EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 49 1818 N-10 R-1 AU55. Blend of frosty olive and reddish steel browns with a red spot over star 13. Only a few trivial marks, including a couple ticks left of the first S in STATES. Fully lustrous surfaces, LDS(b) with the arcing obverse die breaks through the stars and date.

LOT 53 1822 N-5 R-3 VF30. EF45+ sharpness but there is fine granularity in the protected areas, mostly on the reverse. Deep olive brown with hints of lighter medium brown on some of the high points. There are a few trivial marks the fields, and a small pin scratch on the cheek. MDS(b). Broken out of an NGC AU50 holder #1883852-001 (label included).

LOT 50 1819 N-9 R-1 Small Date AU50+. AU58 sharpness but there is a speck of microscopic verdigris nestled in the dentils near F in OF. Lustrous medium chocolate and bluish steel with hints of olive on the reverse. Otherwise free of notable marks. LDS(b).

LOT 54 1823/2 N-1 R-2 VF20. VF30 sharpness but lightly smoothed and now a steely chocolate brown patina with a couple minor rim bumps under 8 and between stars 5-6. Only trivial marks otherwise, smooth glossy surfaces with clear overdate feature. EDS(a). Broken out of an old NGC VF30 holder #678384-004 (label included).

LOT 51 1820 N-13 R-1 Large Date AU58. Frosty light olive and bluish steel with underlying faded mint red. Free of notable marks with just a touch of rub on the high points. Fully lustrous surfaces with excellent eye appeal. MDS(a) with arcing die breaks through the date and stars.

LOT 55 1824 N-2 R-2 EF40+. Glossy medium brown and chocolate with hints of mint frost in some protected areas. There is a thin nick at the berry under E in UNITED, barely visible and the best identifying mark. Smooth surfaces with excellent eye appeal. MDS.

LOT 56 1825 N-8 R-3+ VF30. 5 points sharper but there is a minor rim bruise under star 2 and microscopic roughness in some protected areas on the obverse. Glossy medium brown and chocolate woodgrained with darker chocolate on both sides. E-MDS(a).

LOT 52 1821 N-2 R-1 Planchet Clip NGC VF30. Medium to dark chocolate browns with a bit of micro granularity around star 8 and traces of old crud in some protected areas. Otherwise free of notable marks with smooth surfaces. There is a curved planchet clip at 9 o’clock on the obverse. EDS(a). Our grade is VF20.
