EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025
LOT 269 1808 S-277 R2 F12+ . At least ten points sharper, particularly on the reverse which is always sharper thanks to the high protective rim on that side. The fields on the obverse have been lightly smoothed with very faint hairlines remaining as evidence. Microscopic roughness covers the fields and protected areas on the reverse, strongest at UNI. M-LDS, Breen state VI, with die cracks on the reverse and weakness on star 1 due to swelling at the opposing TA in STATES.
LOT 272 1810 S-282 R2 VF25 . Sharpness EF45 but there is an obvious rim dent at star 1 and the opposing first S in STATES plus a dull nick at the bottom of the eye. Otherwise this cent is choice. Glossy olive brown and steel with frosty lighter steel brown in protected areas. Nicely struck E-MDS with the usual die cracks on the obverse and die clashmarks on the reverse.

LOT 271 1810/09 S-281 R1 Overdate 10 over 09 F12+ . Ten points sharper but the obverse has been very lightly smoothed while the reverse has microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas. There are some nicks and light scratches on the obverse, a light rim bruise left of the first S in STATES, and a well-hidden dent on a leaf under the D in UNITED that caused a subtle bulge in the field between star 3 and the chin. The obverse is glossy chocolate brown and steel; the reverse is olive brown and steel. EDS. The overdate feature is clear.
