EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 266 1804 S-266c R2 NGC graded Fair-2 . Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. The only notable marks are a spot of very fine carbon in the center of the obverse and a nick on the upper edge of the bust near the neck. Actually quite nice for the grade, essentially just worn. The bottom of the date is worn away but the rest is clear and most of the legends are clear as well. LDS with cud breaks at RTY and MERIC. Our grade is Fair-2+, close to AG3. (The holder is scuffed on both sides.) 6699401-003

LOT 263 1803 NC-1 R-5+ Sm Date, Sm Fraction PCGS AG03 . Glossy deep chocolate and dark browns with very light roughness underneath, smooth on the high points. Only the most trivial marks visible, nothing noteworthy. Though a bit faint on the obvesre, the legends and date fully readable. Our grade is consistent with PCGS, AG3 . 36392.03/47910329

LOT 264 1803 NC-1 R-5+ AG3 . Cleaned to an artifical orange and dark steel, with faint pin scratches on the portrait and date. Otherwise smooth and decent for the grade with clear attribution points. EDS. The only NC for the date.

LOT 267 1805 S-268 R3 VF20 . Glossy steel and medium chocolate brown with reddish brown toning in protected areas at the top of the obverse. Smooth with just a few marks including a collection of small digs in the field over the bust tip, a thin planchet void (as struck) near the rim left of the lower curls, and a short scratch under the E in STATES. LDS, Breen state III, with swelling at the D in UNITED. Both dies were well worn.

LOT 265 1804 S-266a R4+ SEGS graded AG-3 Damaged . This cent has been beaten to death and has patches of light green verdigris on the reverse. The surfaces are uneven and most of the devices have been obliterated. Got the idea? On the good side the date is readable, all 4 digits, and those places where a cud break might be found are clear enough to confirm the early die state. Mostly dark chocolate brown. Our grade is Basal State-1. The attribution is noted on the SEGS label.

LOT 268 1807/6 S-272 R-4+ Small Date AG3 . A few points sharper but granularity and roughness cover the surfaces, and brush lines are left in the patina with a smoothed spot over the planchet void on the bust tip. There is also a dent on the rim over O in OF causing a slight blend that raised the area right of the date. MDS. Thankfully the date remains readable and even the overdate can be identified, readable legends.
