EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025

LOT 203 1798 S-166 R1 Large 8, Style II Hair VG10 . Five points sharper with a half dozen small pits on the obverse and light contact marks scattered over both sides. None of the marks is distracting but there are too many to ignore. No verdigris. M-LDS. The crack on the reverse is strong and much of the E in UNITED is filled. EXTREMELY RARE TERMINAL S-171

yes LOT 204 1798 S-171 R4 Small 8, Style II Hair, PCGS graded VG8, CAC Approved . Partly glossy light chocolate brown blending to darker chocolate in protected areas. The two-tone appearance accents the details and this cent has nice eye appeal for the grade. The devices are smooth but the fields and protected areas are covered with extremely granularity. No verdigris, and the only notable mark is a thin nearly horizontal nick on the chin. Extremely rare TDS with a bold die crack arcing through TY ending at the rim before the chin. The area outlined by the crack is a heavily sunken retained cud. The earlier cud break left of the L is clear. A great die state for the serious specialist. Graded VG7 net G5 by Noyes, his photo #36309. The finest TDS example in his census grades F12, and there is very little from which to choose. Our grade is VG7 net G5+. The attribution and Reynolds provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 36083.08/32783174

LOT 206 1798 S-178 R5+ Style II Hair, Reverse of 1796, ANACS graded Good-6, Corroded . Rather glossy steel brown and chocolate. Late die state with fine roughness from die rust in the fields on the obverse, and this roughness is mixed with similar extremely fine “post-striking” roughness on both sides. The only notable mark is a thin stain of dark olive brown toning on the lower part of the reverse. LDS, Breen state IV, with two strong die cracks through the 98. The date is bold and the single leaves at the top of the wreath are clear. Our grade is net AG3, and it is quite nice for the grade in spite of the imperfect surfaces. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7719885

LOT 205 Pair of 1798 Cents with Small 8 & Style II Hair . Includes S-172 R2 MDS G5 and S-184 R1 EDS VG10. Both are smooth with a clear date. Lot of 2 coins.
