EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025 RARE TERMINAL STATE S-114
yes LOT 176 1796 S-114 R5- Draped Bust VG7 . Sharpness F12 or slightly better but covered with fine roughness, strongest in the fields and protected areas. There are a few shallow pits off the ends of the hair ribbon, another at the top of the M, and a planchet flake at the top of the O in ONE. No verdigris and minor contact marks. Light olive and steel brown. Rare terminal die state, Breen IV, with strong rim cuds at TY and left of the L in LIBERTY. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. Far from perfect but better than the Breen plate coin for the die state. Noyes graded VG8 net G5, his photo #28215.

LOT 178 1796 S-116 R5- Draped Bust, PCGS graded G6 . Rather glossy olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. Covered with extremely fine roughness but it looks smooth to the unaided eye. No verdigris and the only notable mark is a dull diagonal nick under the N in ONE. MDS. The bottom of the date is weak but the rest is clear and the legends are all readable. Our grade is G4. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 35834.06/12424761

LOT 177 1796 S-115 R3 Draped Bust G5 . A few points sharper but covered with fine roughness in the fields and protected areas. No marks or verdigris. Slightly glossy steel and chocolate brown with slightly lighter chocolate on the highpoints. The date and LIBERTY are clear and the legends on the reverse are easily readable. Rare intermediate die state, Breen VII early, with a partially raised retained cud over TY that is raised only over the left top of the T. The arcing die crack through the date is strong.
LOT 179 1796 S-119 R-3 VG7 . F15 sharpness but covered in uniform granularity on both sides with traces of verdigris over OF and UNI in UNITED. The only mark is a tiny rim bump at C in AMERICA. Bold date and legends. LDS with a die break through the lower hair curls through the bottom of 17 to the dentils.
