EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

1809 C-3 R1 AU55 . Very attractive frosty medium brown and light chocolate. The fields and protected areas are satiny and this piece has great eye appeal. Looks mint state but there is a trace of friction on the highpoints. The only mark is a small nick or planchet void on the rim right of the D in UNITED. MDS, Manley state 1.0. Struck with the reverse rotated 20 degrees CCW. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS62BN (PCGS label #1123.62/34622436 included).

1809/6 C-5 R1 Corrected 9 over Inverted 9 VF20 . Very glossy medium chocolate brown. Minor marks including a light rim bruise at UN. LDS. The 9 over inverted 9 feature is dull but visible.

 POSSIBLE BROCKAGE UNDERTYPE

yes LOT 54

1809 C-6 R1 F15 . Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. Smooth with minor contact marks. MDS with the reverse rotated 50 degrees clockwise from the normal head-to-foot die orientation. There are three incuse stars at the rim above the head. Perhaps struck over an earlier brockage impression, but there is no other evidence of a brockage or double strike. Possibly pressed against another coin at some time but there is no damage anywhere. Interesting.
