EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025 OFF-CENTER 1808/7 C-2
yes LOT 50
1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 PCGS graded Good-6 . Glossy medium chocolate and steel. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but there is uniform extremely faint granularity covering the planchet. No verdigris, only a few marks. The notable marks are some dull ones on the unstruck portion of the planchet and a nick on the neck close to the hair. Struck at least 10% off center to K-1, possibly as a reverse brockage maker against another planchet. The date is easily readable and the overdate feature is visible. A nice mint error. Our grade is G6, same as the PCGS grade . The attribution and “Struck 10% off center” error are noted on the PCGS label. E35212.06/37734606

EXTREMELY RARE 1809 C-1 WITH CUD
yes LOT 51
1809 C-1 R7+ (as a die state) Fair-2 . Sharpness G4 (better in a few places, weaker in others) but covered with moderate roughness on all but the highpoints, which are mostly smooth. No verdigris or notable marks. The devices are light olive and steel brown while the protected areas are a darker shade of steel brown and olive. The date is clear and most of the legends are easily readable. LDS, Manley state 3.0, with a very bold cud break at MERI. Struck with the reverse rotated 30 degrees CCW. Only 4 are known to us in this terminal die state, and none of those are in high grade. In fact only one of those grades better than Fair-2. This is the Fuhrman plate coin for the die state. An important opportunity for the serious die state specialist. Ex Thomas D.
