1804 C-1 R3 PCGS graded AU58 . Light greenish olive blended with lighter and darker olive tones on the reverse. The reverse was lightly cleaned causing the lighter highpoints. The gloss on the obverse is subdued by a thin layer of oxidation. Could use a bit of TLC to improve the eye appeal in this cataloger’s opinion, but the graders at PCGS loved it as is (hence the AU58 grade). The only notable mark is a shallow planchet flake in the field above the upper end of the hair ribbon (as struck). LDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 2, with a strong die crack through the second T in STATES and swelling to the right of the crack. This is the Manley plate coin for the variety and for his die state 2.0. Graded EF40 by Noyes, his photo #73459. Our grade is EF40 net VF35. One of the finest seen in the late die state. 1069.58/21288050

LOT 36 1804 C-5 R4 Spiked Chin PCGS graded XF45 . Frosty steel and lighter reddish brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Traces of lighter steel brown show in protected areas on both sides. The surfaces are a bit dull and look like they have never been touched with a brush. A dull nick on the cheek near the curl is the only notable mark. LDS, Manley state 6.0, Fuhrman state 3, with die cracks and minor swelling. The Spiked Chin feature is clear. Our grade is EF45. 35152.45/15699486

1804 C-6 R2 Spiked Chin PCGS graded MS62 Brown, CAC Approved . Very attractive lustrous light to medium brown with an arc of frosty darker olive brown and steel toning at MERICA. No roughness or carbon spots, just a few trivial marks. A couple microscopic ticks on the neck, a small nick in the field under the chin, and a thin vertical nick above AL in HALF are the only notable defects. LDS, Manley state 11.0, Fuhrman state 19, with cud breaks on the reverse. A beautiful cent, very close to mint state. Our grade is AU58+. The attribution and Spiked Chin feature are noted on the PCGS label. (The holder is scuffed.) 35161.62/27959267
