LOT 774 1799 S-189 Electrotype COPY VF25 . An attractive piece with glossy medium brown toning that blends to chocolate in protected areas. There are traces of roughness on both sides and a small rim bruise left of the first S in STATES. Quite deceptive; a test scrape on the edge at the E in UNITED was used to expose the base metal and confirm the electrotype status.

LOT 778 1804 S-266a Electrotype COPY VF20 . A sharp copy with patches of roughness and verdigris on both sides. The fields and protected areas are light reddish brown while he highpoints are light greyish steel from the base metal. EDS before the cud breaks.

Ex Rodney C. Burress (includes the Burress sales envelope)

Ex Denis W. Loring Collection 7/29/1987-Pete Smith (includes the Smith collection envelope)

LOT 779 1804 S-266a Electrotype Copy F15 . VF30 sharpness cleaned and now medium brown on the obverse, faded orange and steel on the reverse, with microporosity on the surfaces. A bit of the base metal is visible on some high points.

LOT 775 1799 S-189 Electrotype Copy F12 . Golden brown with a corrosion spot on the hair braid with a rather glossy, lightly burnished appearance. There are several pin pricks and tiny dents scattered on the portrait and obverse fields, a few on the lower reverse. Full details on this electrotype copy of the key date 1799 large cent.

Ex; J.R. Frnakenfield Superior 2/2001:580 - Col. Steve Ellsworth

LOT 780 1804 S-266b Electrotype COPY AG3 . Sharper on the obverse but banged up, perhaps to help it pass as genuine. Burnished and retoned glossy dark chocolate and steel. This one is quite deceptive. MDS with a cud break at RTY.

LOT 776 “1799” from Altered 1798 S-169 Electrotype Copy VF20 . Tan brown with hints of the base metal showing on Liberty’s face and some high points. There is a scratch in the hair near the braid, and a scuff over N in CENT, and a bit of light roughness on the upper reverse. Otherwise fairly smooth, glossy surfaces. This is an electrotype copy of a 1798 S-169 that had the date altered to 1799.

Ex Thomas D. Reynolds (includes the Reynolds sales envelope)

LOT 781 1804 S-266c Electrotype COPY VG10 . Glossy tan and light brown with chocolate and olive brown toning in protected areas. Minor marks and specks of darker toning on the obverse. Late die state with both cud breaks. The seam on the edge is clearly visible; otherwise this one is deceptive.

LOT 777 Pair of Cents with Date Altered to “1799” . The first has a Fair-2+ 1798 S-165 host with slightly deceptive reengraving on the date; the second host is a Basal State-1 nearly slick draped bust cent with slightly better reengraving on the date. A lot of two cents with the date altered to 1799.
