1802/0 C-2 R3 Overdate 2 over 0, Reverse of 1803, PCGS graded F12 . Slightly glossy light olive brown and chocolate. The planchet is covered with fine roughness but there is no notable verdigris, only a few specks of crud. There are fine scratches scattered over the obverse, all blended nicely into the toning. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 2, with a closed loop in the curl left of the date. The date is strong for the grade and the legends are complete; the overdate feature is obvious. Our grade is VG10 sharpness net VG7. The “Reverse of 1802” feature (actually 1803) is noted on the PCGS label. (The holder is scuffed.) 1057.12/14725535

yes LOT 26

1800 C-1 R2 NGC graded MS62 Red & Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous bright original mint red fading to dark steel brown with about 70% of the obverse and 40% of the reverse showing the mint color. Microscopic contact marks cover much of this piece, more than your expect for a piece with this much original red, but none of the marks is significant or distracting. M-LDS, Manley state 4.0, Fuhrman state 4. The curl left of the date is now open and the dentils are weak but visible. Most likely this piece is a survivor from a small hoard (Breen estimated 30 100 pieces) discovered in the mid-1930’s in Boston. The pieces from this hoard came with significant mint color but are mostly “spotty red or faded red” according to Breen. They are from the later die state with an open curl, and they have been widely dispersed over the decades since the discovery. Our grade is MS60+ . 3424056-005

1803 C-1 R1 PCGS graded AU55 . Frosty golden tan with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Sharp with great eye appeal and just a light touch of friction on the highpoints, but there are a few well hidden marks. A short, dull scratch at the right top of the I and right top of the D in UNITED and a tiny dig under the F in OF are the only marks. MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 2.0, with die cracks on the reverse. Our grade is AU58 sharpness net AU50. (The back of the holder is scuffed.) 1060.55/20353534

LOT 30

1800 C-1 R2 NGC graded XF40 . Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel with frost in protected areas, particularly on the reverse. Lightly worn and choice except for a trail of nearly vertical nicks from the neck to the field above the bust. MDS, Manley state 3.0. The curl left of the date is still closed. Our grade is VF35 net VF30. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. 2543471-001
