EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS - INTERNET ONLY

LOT 649 1797 S-125 R5 Fair-2+ . Slightly glossy steel brown with darker olive brown in protected areas. Reasonably smooth on the highpoints; slightly rough in protected areas, especially on the neck. No verdigris or significant marks or the grade. Very late die state with massive swelling at the date and bust that obliterates the 97 and more at LIBE. The 17 is visible as is most of the legend

LOT 645 1796 S-81 R3 Liberty Cap G6 . Slightly sharper, particularly on the obverse but there is fine roughness in the fields and protected areas while the highpoints are smooth. A scratch close below ON in ONE is the notable mark. EDS. The date and LIBERTY are bold and the legends on the reverse are complete. Not bad for the grade. Struck with the reverse rotated 30 degrees CCW.

LOT 650 1797 S-132 R5+ Stemless Wreath AG3 . Several points sharper but covered with moderate roughness on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No verdigris but there are a few deep, obvious marks on the obverse, the strongest one at the end of the bust. The date is weak but readable; the legends are complete and easily readable. Slightly glossy olive brown and steel, lighter on the devices, darker in protected areas. Struck with the reverse rotated 20 degrees CCW. The Stemless Wreath feature is clear.

LOT 646 1796 S-91 R3 Liberty Cap VG7+ . Very slightly sharper but lightly burnished and poorly recolored a blotchy mix of golden tan, brown, and dark olive brown. No corrosion but there are some nicks including a long one right of the D in UNITED. LDS with areas of swelling on both sides. The date is bold and the legends are clear except for a few places affected by the swelling.

LOT 647 1796 S-100 R5 Draped Bust Fair-1 . Glossy medium chocolate brown. Smooth with trivial marks, just very heavily worn. The date is easily readable and about half of LIBERTY shows, but the reverse is very nearly slick.

LOT 651 1797 S-132 R5+ Stemless Wreath AG3 . A few points sharper with scratches on the obverse, mostly on the portrait. Otherwise smooth with attractive glossy chocolate brown toning with lighter brown on the devices. The date is relatively weak, as always on this variety, but it is readable and most of the legends are clear. Struck with misaligned dies with the obverse off to K-9 and the reverse off in the opposite direction to K-3 causing weakness at AMERICA. The Stemless Wreath feature is obvious. Struck with the reverse rotated 20 degrees CCW.

Ex Torey Denman (includes the Denman collection envelope)

LOT 648 1796 S-111 R5- Draped Bust Fair-2+ . The obverse is G5 but the reverse is Fair-1. The obverse is smooth; the reverse has some minor roughness. Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. The date and LIBERTY are strong but most of the reverse is slick.
