LARGE CENTS

LOT 637 1853 Brunk C-73 Counterstamped RC over 4 . Counterstamped RC over 4 on the obverse, the 4’s diagonal line not stamped. RC is for R. Clark, referenced in Brunk’s guide. The stamp contains granular corrosion and verdigris, and a few specks are visible in some reverse protected areas. Full date and legends.

LOT 641 1794 S-28 R2 VG7 . Sharpness F12 but covered with fine granularity and there is a dull scratch through the chin. There is a spot of reddish verdigris at the L. Dark olive brown and steel. The date and legends are complete and clear.

LOT 522 1853 Brunk S-182 Counterstamped 638. SCHMIDT . Counterstamped C.SCHMIDT on both sides, Caspar Schmidt was a wagon maker from Windsor, York, PA in the 1850s. Medium brown and olive with some grainy crud or scale in some protected areas. Partially obscured by mostly readable date and legends.

LOT 642 1794 S-58 R3 G5 . Several points sharper but covered with fine roughness. No verdigris or marks, just worn. Partly glossy dark olive brown with lighter brown on the devices. The date and legends are clear except for weakness at the bottom of the reverse.

LOT 639 1855 Brunk H-47 Counterstamped W.H . Counterstamped W.H on the obverse, possibly the only one on a half cent as none are listed by Brunk. There is a bit of grainy crud in some reverse protected areas and a rim bruise below the right side of the date. Chocolate brown with full date and readable legends.

LOT 643 1794 S-59 R3 AG3 . A few points sharper but covered with fine to moderate roughness. There are some light scratches on the obverse and a couple rim bruises on the reverse. No verdigris. Dark chocolate brown with lighter steel brown on the devices. The date and legends are readable. MDS., Breen state IV, with die cracks on the reverse.

LOT 640 1855 Counterstamped W.L . Counterstamped W.L on the obverse. Cleaned and now toned medium olive and steel browns with underlying faded red. Sharp details with bold date and readable legends except those opposite the stamp.

LOT 644 1795 S-74 R4- Lettered Edge Fair-2 . Mostly glossy chocolate brown. The surfaces are mostly smooth but the edge has been tapped all the way around and there is an old scrape on the portrait. A few small pits and other minor contact marks round out the defects. The date is clear and LIBERTY is complete, but only portions of the legend on the reverse remain visible.
