EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025

LOT 465 1854 N-7 R2+ MS60 . A choice, lustrous cent with at least 10% of the mint red remaining, but there is a linear planchet void (as struck) from the nose to star 4 and a smaller one on the same angle over star 5. Otherwise satiny and void of defects; the reverse is essentially flawless. MDS, die state b early. The repunching at the bottom of the 1 & 4 is dull and weak but still visible. Tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census.

LOT 468 1855 N-5 R5 Upright 55 AU50+ . Very attractive frosty light brown with luster in the fields and protected areas. Sharpness near mint state and the only defects are a very fine curved scratch under the right corner of the eye and two small planchet voids at the edge over IT in UNITED (as struck). Otherwise choice. EDS, die state a, with all the fine die lines described in the Grellman reference. Quite sharply struck on the obverse; less sharp on the reverse because that die was well worn prior to this marriage. Tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census.
