EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

 CONDITION CENSUS N-29

yes LOT 411 1847 N-29 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown . Lustrous mint red fading to light olive with overtones of bluish steel and sea green on the obverse. About 25% of the obverse shows mint color while over two-thirds of the reverse shows bright mint red. A hint of reddish steel toning shows at STA and some more on the lower half of the E in AMERICA. A tiny, barely visible tick on the lower right point of star 12 can help identify this cent. LDS, die state d, with fine die cracks through the reverse legend. Our grade is MS62 , CC#4 for the die variety in the Grellman census. The attribution and Iskra Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 37338.63/81078268

LOT 412 1847 N-29 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown . Frosty medium brown and steel with generous traces of mint red showing in protected areas on both sides. A bit dull; the underlying mint luster is subdued by a very thin layer of oxidation. Has the look of a cent that has never been touched with a brush or oil. Just a few trivial marks including a couple tiny, very light scratches than break the toning on the rim at star 9 and a bit of fine carbon in the dentils over the D in UNITED. LDS, die state d, with die cracks on the reverse. Our grade is AU58; perhaps a bit better if the underlying mint luster was brought to life. 1877.64/33290471

LOT 413 1847 N-30 R4 Repunched 1, PCGS graded AU55, CAC Approved . Attractive light to medium reddish chocolate brown. Sharp and attractive, just light wear on the highpoints and traces of greenish dirt in protected areas on the reverse (could use a bath). The only notable mark is a fine diagonal scratch on the bottom of the neck. MDS, die state b, with a tiny lump on the upper edge of the wreath ribbon but before the large cud break on the rim below the wreath ribbon. The repunching under the 1 is bold. Our grade is EF40. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. (The holder is scuffed on the front.) 372340.55/26879829
