EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 392 1847 N-18 R5 Repunched Date VF30 . Slightly sharper but nicely retoned glossy light to medium chocolate and steel brown with hints of frosty lighter reddish brown in protected areas. Lightly worn with minor marks including some tiny nicks on the jaw, another on the eyebrow, and a nearly vertical nick left of star 9. Rare TDS, die state d, with clearly defined rim cud breaks from below the 1 to star 2 and another from star 3 nearly to star 4. Tied for CC#7 of the die state in the Grellman census. The repunching on the date remains visible as does the “moonscape” texture on the portrait.

LOT 393 1847 N-19 R1 Repunched 4, PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous light steel brown with hints of golden tan on the reverse. Satiny and nearly void of marks; a cent that has great eye appeal. Two small nicks under the right edge of the 4 are the notable defects. E-MDS, die state b early, with lightly flowlined fields. The fine die lines connecting the N’s in ONE CENT are incomplete but some remain visible. The repunching on the 4 is clear. Our grade is MS60+ . Comes with a nice provenance. 1877.64/24288397

LOT 394 1847 N-19 R1 Repunched 4 EF45+ . Frosty light brown with tiny spots of darker olive brown toning scattered over both sides, mostly on the obverse. The largest of these spots is on the left side of the O in OF. Otherwise choice with light friction on the devices. MDS, die state b. The earlier die lines connecting the N in ONE to EN in CENT are mostly gone.
