LOT 104 1853 C-1 R1 MS65 Brown NGC. Lustrous light steel brown with hints of light bluish steel overtone on both sides and some very faded mint red on the reverse. Satiny and very attractive, just a few tiny marks from flawless. A small nick in the field before the eyelash and a spot of darker toning under the right side of star 7 are the only notable defects. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with lightly flowlined fields and the die line at the first T in STATES quite weak. Our grade is MS63. LOT 105 1854 C-1 R1+ MS65 Red & Brown NGC, CAC Approved. Lustrous olive and steel with mellowed mint red covering about 10% of the planchet, mostly on the obverse. Sharply struck and very attractive. Just a few minor marks including some tiny ticks on the lower edge of the jaw and a faint scratch high on the jaw. These marks are not visible to the unaided eye. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0, Fuhrman state 1. The dentils are sharp and the dash left of the base of the 1 is clear. Our grade is MS63+.
