LOT 100 1849 C-1 R2- Large Date, MS64 Brown NGC. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth with minor marks. A small spot low on the neck and some light contact marks on the portrait are the notable defects. Sharply struck except for some weakness on the date, as usual in the later die state. LDS, Manley state 2.0. The earlier die lines over NI in UNITED are gone and the reverse is rotated 110 degrees CCW. Our grade is MS60. LOT 101 1850 C-1 R2- MS63 Brown NGC. Glossy light brown with traces of mint red in protected areas on the reverse. Just a few trivial marks including a tiny vertical tick mid-jawline and a horizontal one on the upper lip. Sharply struck EDS with a few very tiny low spots at the dentil tips on the reverse. Our grade is AU58. The Breen-1 attribution is noted on the NGC label (housed in an older version of the NGC holder.) LOT 102 1851 C-1 R1 Second 1 Repunched, MS64 Brown NGC. Frosty light to medium brown with a very attractive lighter tan “cameo” effect on the portrait. Tiny peeps of mint red show on the obverse. Just a few microscopic marks including a couple tiny ticks on the jaw and a very light nick under the lower loop of the wreath ribbon. EDS with smooth, hard fields. The dentils are fully formed, the radial lines in all the stars are complete, and the repunching right of the base of the second 1 is sharp. A very attractive example of this common date, but it is not common in this very early die state. Our grade is MS62.
