EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 318 1807 S-276 R-1 VF25. 10 points sharper but nicely recolored and now attractive light brown and light steel with iridescent gold and bluish steel tones. There are also pin scratches between ONE and CENT, and one on Liberty’s chest. MDS, Breen state II. Smooth surfaces. Graded VF30 net VF25 and TCC#22 by Noyes, his photo #32420. The reverse is rotated 45 degrees counter-clockwise, common on this variety.

LOT 315 Pair of Large Cents 1807/6 & 1808. Lot of 2 large cents. One is an 1807/6 S-273 R-1 MDS VF25 net AG3 from corrosion and cleaning. Now toned a mixed steel brown and faded red patina. The other is an 1808 S-277 R-2 MDS F12 net G4 from corrosion and roughness covering the surfaces. Now a deep steel and olive patina. Both have strong dates and legends.

LOT 316 1807 S-274 R-2 VF30. 10 points sharper but there are some faint pin scratches in the obverse fields, and a shallow verdigris spots under ER in AMERICA and U in UNITED. Mostly medium olive brown with lighter rosey brown tones in some reverse protected areas. MDS, Breen state III. Other than the aforementioned spots, the surfaces are glossy and smooth. Graded VF30 net VF20 and TCC#18 by Noyes, his photo #39560.

LOT 319 1807 S-276 R-1 VF20. VF30 sharpness but micro roughness and very light porosity is visible under a glass. There are also several marks, most notably a few nicks on the cheek and neck, scratches behind the lower hair and before the eye, and faint pin scratches near OF. Dark chocolate and steel browns. EDS, Breen state I, the reverse is rotated 10 degrees counter-clockwise.

LOT 320 1807 S-276 R-1 F15+. VF30 sharpness but recolored and now mostly pleasing light to medium browns and light steel. There are a few tiny pits, a couple around the ear and one below the hair braid, another below D in UNITED. Only trivial marks otherwise. M-LDS, Breen state IV. The reverse is rotated 155 degrees clockwise.

LOT 317 1807 S-276 R-1 VF25. Medium chocolate and olive browns with trivial marks in the fields of both sides. A couple tiny nicks below NT in CENT and the denominator, and a pin scratch next to U in UNITED the most notable. Smooth surfaces. EDS.
