EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 283 1803 S-254 R-1 Wide Date F15. There are traces of shallow, granular oxidation around LIB and the protected areas on the lower reverse. There is also a hairline scratch on the center of the reverse, trivial scattered marks consistent with the grade otherwise. Attractive chocolate and olive brown surfaces. LDS, Breen state V with the retained cud break at the bust tip. Strong date and legends.

LOT 281 1803 S-253 R-2 Close Date VF25. 10 points sharper but there are digs on the reverse under ER in AMERICA and on the rims over NI in UNITED and the first S in STATES. Choice light chocolate and tan browns with light steel on the devices. EDS, Breen state I. Graded VF35 net VF25 by Noyes, his photo #36888. Rather glossy, smooth surfaces. Despite a few minor marks the eye appeal is great.
