EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 272 1802 S-242 R-2 XF40. Near AU sharpness but there are light scratches in the left obverse field. Steel brown with underlying tan mellowed down from faded mint color. Frosty luster covers the protected areas. LDS, Breen state III. Graded XF40 and TCC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #26181. Nice eye appeal.

LOT 269 1802 S-240 R-3 VF25. XF45 sharpness but there are numerous rim bumps all around both sides that have been smoothed with file marks left behind. Dark brown, olive, and ruddy chocolate browns. LDS, Breen state IV, with the die crack up from the bust tip, a couple on the reverse connecting stop N in ONE, and strong clash marks on both sides. Graded AU55 net VF20 by Noyes, his photo #31589.
LOT 273 1803 S-243 R-2 Stemless, Dbl Fraction Bar F15. F15+ with one small rough spot over the hair braid. A minor rim bump between UNITED and STATES is the only notable mark. Otherwise choice glossy chocolate brown surfaces, darker in some protected areas. LDS, Breen state V, with an obverse rim cud break from TY right before the nose. The double S and double fraction bar features are clear.

LOT 270 1802 S-240 R-3 VF25. 5 points sharper but there is some minor roughness on the lower reverse around the wreath. Glossy medium to dark browns with generally smooth surfaces otherwise. Breen die state IV.
LOT 274 1803 S-244 R-4 VG10. Fine sharpness but there is some light corrosion along the left dentils on the obverse, and traces in some protected areas. Trivial marks consistent with the grade. Mostly attractive medium brown with deeper charcoal in the reverse protected areas. MDS.

LOT 271 1802 S-241 R-1 Stemless, Dbl Fraction Bar F15+. VF25 but there are areas of minor corrosion and shallow old verdigris at the shoulder, behind the hair braid, along the lower reverse. Medium brown with underlying light brown and ruddy brown with light steel on the high points. EDS+, Breen state I late. The double S and double fraction bar features are clear. Strong date and legends.
