EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 104 1794 S-25 R-3 G5. G6 but there are several rim bumps on both sides, most notably one at ST, another at F-A, one at Y in LIBERTY, and one right of the pole. Trivial marks consistent with the grade otherwise. Glossy dark chocolate brown and steel, deeper steel toning in some protected areas. MDS. Smooth surfaces.
LOT 107 1794 S-49 R-2 VG7. XF40 sharpness but corroded with porous surfaces. Free of notable marks. Semi glossy dark chocolate brown and deep steel. MDS, Breen state II. Despite the surfaces the date and legends are sharp. Found under sub floor in a Philadelphia home in 1970 with a S-18b, both of which showed little wear.

LOT 105 1794 S-41 R-3 VF25+. Mostly glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter brown toning on the highpoints. The obverse is lighter and more glossy than the reverse. Sharper by at 5-10 points but there are traces of fine verdigris on the reverse, especially at the T in CENT, and a few contact marks. The notable marks are a light rim bruise before the nose and a shallow scuff at CENT into the bow below. Sharply struck M-LDS, Breen state VII, Heck state 8,with strong die cracks on the reverse and clash marks on both sides. The reverse is rotated 15 degrees CCW. Graded net VF30 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF25 and tied for CC#9, his photo #20228.
LOT 108 1794 S-52 R-6- F12. Glossy medium brown and light olive. Probably very lightly cleaned long ago but the eye appeal is excellent for the grade. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals extremely fine granularity in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris and only minor marks including a planchet chip on the cheek, a few faint hairline scratches at LIBE, a minor rim bruise left of the cap, and another small rim bruise at D in UNITED. EDS, Breen state I. Graded F12 and tied for CC#5 honours in the Bland census. Noyes says F15 net VG10 and tied for CC#9, his photo #20293. Comes with a nice provenance.

VF20 sharpness but there is an “X” scratched on the portrait centered at the bottom of the earlobe that extends into the right field that blend in well to the natural toning. The only other marks are two rim dents at S-OF. Glossy chocolate and steel browns on nearly choice, smooth attractive surfaces. LDS, Breen state II with a large cud break covering the dentils under the cap. Strong date and legends.
