Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1

THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION

LOT 140 1826 N-7 R1 MS60 . Lustrous light bluish steel brown with tiny peeps of very faded mint color in a few protected areas. Sharply struck with satiny surfaces and very nice eye appeal. The notable marks are a dull nick on the eyebrow, a very shallow planchet flake in the field right of star 2, and four tiny spots of darker steel brown toning at star 13. MDS, die state b, with rotated die clashmarks on both sides, and those marks are clear. A very nice example of this interesting die state.

LOT 141 1826/5 N-8 R2 Overdate 6 over 5 NGC graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous steel brown with golden tan in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has great eye appeal. There is a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices and a couple small splashes of reddish brown toning: one under the 2 and another between the N & E in ONE. The spot under the 2 contains some extremely fine carbon but it certainly does not affect the very nice eye appeal. LDS, die state b, with flowlined fields and crumbling in the upper notch of the N in ONE. The repunching inside the top of the 6 remains visible (and the overdate feature is noted on the NGC label). Graded AU55 net AU50 and tied for CC#13 in the Noyes census, his photo #22030. Our grade is AU58 . 3607719-014
