LOT 142 1826 N-9 R3 PCGS graded MS65 Brown . Lustrous chocolate brown with frosty lighter steel brown in protected areas on the reverse. Satiny and flawless except for a small, very faint spot of darker toning in the field above the inner part of the hair bun. Sharply struck with radial lines in all the stars. Latest die state, state f, with the bisecting reverse die crack clear, another fine die crack from the bust tip to the dentils under star 1, and a small rim cud break extending down to just inside the dentils over the right side of star 7. Called MS63 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 and tied for CC#3, his photo #21261. Our grade is MS63. 36832.65/13094623

LOT 143 1827 N-1 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown . Lustrous bluish steel and light chocolate brown with subtle hints of faded mint color in a few protected areas. There are a few tiny specks of darker toning at stars 5-8, tiny ticks left of star 12, and microscopic planchet chips around the weakly struck E in CENT (pre-striking planchet imperfections). E-MDS, die state a, with multiple fine die clashmarks inside the wreath but no crumbling at the dentils between stars 5-6. Nicely struck except for stars 5-7, the hair along the top of the head, and at the aforementioned E in CENT. Noyes says AU50 and tied for CC#3, his photo #20768.
