Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1
THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION
LOT 85 1820 N-9 R3 Large Date EF45 . Frosty olive and chocolate brown with attractive flowline luster covering the fields and protected areas. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has really nice eye appeal. The only marks are a few small splashes of lighter brown toning around stars 4 & 5, a tiny nick over the nostril, and a microscopic horizontal hairline scratch under ONE. Rare LDS, die state d, with three fine die cracks on the obverse. Die cracks are visible from the bust to the left top of the 8, from the bust tip into the field towards star 1, and a relatively strong one from the chin into the field towards star 1. The repunching under the T in CENT is weak but still visible. Called EF45 net EF40 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #38478. Ex 1997 EAC Sale, lot 215-1999 EAC Sale, lot 418-Stuart A. LOT 86
1820 N-10 R2 Large Date, PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Medium brown and light olive with subtle overtones of light rose and steel blue. The fields are hard and slightly reflective and this cent has great eye appeal. The only notable mark is a tiny flake in the field close over star 1. EDS, die state a early. The dash at F-A is sharp and the center dot on the reverse is clear. A beautiful cent, once sold as a “Proof” strike (which it is not). But that fact attests to the superior eye appeal of this cent. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #37323. Our grade is MS60+ . 36664.64/30866999 Ex Charles J. DuPont (The Anderson DuPont Sale), Stack’s 9/24/1954:591-Dorothy E.
