Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1

EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 63 1818 N-10 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown . Choice lustrous light bluish steel brown and chocolate with underlying slightly faded mint color showing through on 5% of the obverse and 25% of the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and the only marks are a few tiny ticks on the cheek, none notable, and some slightly darker steel toning at the dentils near star 12. MDS, die state b, the usual Randall Hoard die state for this variety, but this is a nice one. Noyes photo #39221. Our grade is MS63. 36629.64/25134942

Ex Harry Laibstain 2/2002-Paul Gerrie, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 5/27/2012:8-Terry S. Denman Collection

LOT 64 1819/8 N-1 R1+ Overdate 9 over 8, PCGS graded MS63 Brown . Lustrous chocolate and bluish steel with subtle hints of very faded mint red in protected areas on the reverse. Frosty and attractive with a few small contact marks. The notable marks are a small planchet lamination in the field midway between the mouth and star 3 (as struck), and a few trivial ticks elsewhere in the field before the portrait. A tiny piece of the lamination has flaked off creating a mark that is visible to the unaided eye. LDS, die state late, with a series of narrow but clearly defined rim cud breaks from star 7 to midway between stars 11 & 12 plus a smaller rim cud at ICA. This is the latest state seen but the overdate feature is still clear. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#3 with many other examples in the Noyes census, his photo #56722. Our grade is MS60. 36658.63/83246711
