LOT 61 1818 N-8 R3 NGC graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with 20% of both sides showing mint color. Sharply struck except for several of the stars before the portrait. Just a few trivial marks including a light diagonal nick mid-jawline and a dull tick under the left side of the E in CENT. LDS, die state e, with a series of narrow rim cuds from star 5 to star 8. The center dot on the reverse is gone. Finest known example of the variety; a relatively new discovery. Our grade is MS63. 3749996-003

LOT 62 1818 N-9 R3 PCGS graded MS64+ Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous light olive and golden tan with hints of underlying very faded mint red showing through in protected areas. The only marks, and they are insignificant, are a small puff of slightly darker toning in the field between the mouth and star 3 and a light vertical nick just right of the top of the C in CENT. MDS, die state c, with a tiny rim break involving 3 dentils from star 7.5 to star 8. Graded MS60+ and CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#4, his photo #21652. Our grade is MS60+. Comes with a significant provenance. 36625.64+/83246709
