THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION
LOT 20 1817 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS62 Brown . Glossy chocolate with lighter olive and steel brown on the reverse. Faded mint red covers the protected areas on the obverse and mint luster shows in the fields and protected areas. There is a trace of light friction on the highpoints and a few trivial marks including a line of very tiny ticks down the jaw and a light diagonal nick over star 4. Nicely struck E-MDS, die state b early. The dentils on the obverse are clear but only about half of the dentils on the reverse are visible. All the stars have full radial lines. Noyes photo #37182. Our grade is AU55 . 36562.62/30809063 Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions 1/7/1995:431-W. M. “Jack” Wadlington (The Twin Leaf Collection), Stack’s Bowers 7/16/2015:2018-Terry S. LOT 21 1817 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Choice lustrous medium steel brown with mellowing mint red showing on nearly a third of the obverse and in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has great eye appeal. Nearly flawless; a dull, very light scuff on the bust may help identify this cent, but you need a good glass to see it. M-LDS, die state b. The fields are flowlined and most of the dentils on the reverse are nearly gone. Struck with the reverse rotated 25 degrees CCW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. A beautiful cent. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 Choice and tied for CC#1 honors with one other piece, his photo #27227. Our grade is MS63 Choice. 36562.64/36186625
