LOT 18 1817 N-3 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown . Lustrous faded red mellowing to bluish steel brown with nearly half the planchet showing mellowed red. There are several small spots of bluish steel toning sprinkled over the obverse, the largest of these at the curl under the hair bun. The only notable mark is a tiny, barely visible planchet flake or tick just right of the F in OF. MDS, die state b, with a small “Peeking Mouse” break resting on the top of the head under the left side of star 8, the precursor to the full “Mouse” break that occurs soon after. LOT 19 1817 N-4 R3+ PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Glossy steel brown and olive with lighter reddish brown faded down from mint color in protected areas . Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has great eye appeal. Essentially flawless except for a diagonal hairline scratch between the second S in STATES and the adjacent O in OF. MDS, die state c. The always present die crack through the base of the date has a radial die crack extending down to the dentils below star 1. Called MS62 choice and CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #21640. Bland says MS60+ and CC#4 in his census. Our grade is MS62. 36559.64/13094326
