Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1
THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION
NICELY STRUCK 1829 N-3
LOT 173 1829 N-3 R3 Medium Letters, NGC graded AU58 . Choice glossy chocolate brown with frosty medium brown toning in protected areas of the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and essentially flawless, and this cent has great eye appeal. The strike is well above average for the variety with the portrait and wreath fully impressed. The best identifying mark, and it required a careful search to find, is a small nick on the dentil directly under the tip of the wreath ribbon. An outstanding example of the popular Medium Letters Reverse type. LDS. The upper part all three of the A’s in the reverse legend are filled, as always, and the dentil tips are fading into flowlines around both sides. Noyes photo #60964 (ungraded). Our grade is EF45. Tied for CC#2 in our census. 2038632-030

LOT 174 1829 N-4 R4 Large Letters VF35 . Ten points sharper with smooth surfaces and great eye appeal, but a planchet delamination covers the lower curls between stars 12 & 13. The delamination is well hidden in the curls and is very easy to miss. Otherwise this cent is choice. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with mint frost covering the protected areas. Softly struck, as usual, with weakness on the curl above the 29 and at the top of the hair bun. LDS, die state b. The rim cud left of star 5 is strong and the radial die crack through the R in AMERICA is clear. Graded VF35 and CC#6 in the Noyes census, his photo #37763.
