Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1

EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

 CONDITION CENSUS 1828 SMALL DATE

LOT 167 1828 N-10 R1 Small Date PCGS graded MS64 Brown . Lustrous golden tan and light steel brown delicately mottled with some light reddish steel at stars 12-13. There are faint hints of underlying mint red on the reverse and this cent has very nice eye appeal. Essentially void of contact marks; a small spot of reddish brown toning under the right foot of the R in AMERICA is a good identifying mark. MDS, die state a, with microscopic radial die flowlines but before the fine die crack from the bust to star 1. Graded MS61 and CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #27440. Our grade is MS62. (The holder is badly scratched and scuffed.). 1657.64/25354884 Ex Judge Joseph Sawicki, Stack’s 2/27/1954:656-Emanuel Taylor 1960-R. Denman Collection EQUAL SECOND FINEST N-11

LOT 168 1828 N-11 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Choice lustrous light olive and bluish steel with generous traces of faded mint red in protected areas, especially on the obverse. The fields are hard and slightly reflective, especially on the obverse, and this cent has superb eye appeal. The only notable marks, and they are barely visible, are a small nick mid-jawline and a faint hairline between star 5 and the forelock. EDS, die state a early, with the stray S left of the first S in STATES and the equally misplaced O in OF left of the proper O both clear. A wonderful cent. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #35908. Our grade is MS63 . 36901.64/30812873 Ex Charles R. Mathewson-Emanuel Taylor 1960-R.
