LOT 358 1848 N-21 R3+ ANACS graded AU55. Frosty tan and light brown with a peep of very faded mint red on the obverse. Satiny and quite attractive with light friction on the highpoints. A tiny scratch off the lower right point of star 13 can help identify this cent. MDS, die state c, with crumbling on the reverse. Our grade is AU50. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7301852

LOT 359 1848 N-23 R3+ AU55. Frosty light to medium steel brown with generous traces of slightly faded mint red showing on both sides. Satiny mint luster shows in the fields and protected areas. This cent has mint state sharpness but there are a couple faint hairline scratches in the field before the nose, a fine scratch from the nostril to the jaw under the earlobe where it fades away, and a couple dull ones over the C in CENT. E-MDS, die state a. The fine die line through the O in ONE is clear. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS63BN (PCGS label #406497.63/16210012 included and it shows the attribution). Our grade is net AU55, tied for CC#11 in the Grellman census.

LOT 361 1848 N-27 R2 F15. Five points sharper but there are several nicks on the cheek and neck plus a tiny rim bruise above star 6. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and the toning is an attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Extremely rare Terminal Die State, (h), with a clearly defined rim cud from below star 12 nearly up to the bottom of star 11. Only 7 are known with the cud break and this one is tied for second finest of that small group in the Grellman census.
