TNA HOF Collection Pt 1
RARE DIE STATE N-40
LOT 1256 1848 N-40 R3 Repunched 18 EF45+. Choice frosty tan and light brown. Lightly worn and nearly void of marks. A diagonal nick midway between star 1 and the throat is the best identifying mark. Rare MDS, die state b, with a narrow rim cud under the 48, but there is no extension up to the dentil roots. A rare intermediate state of this cud break, one of the finest seen.

THE BROWN-HOLMES N-40
LOT 1257 1848 N-40 R3 Repunched 18, PCGS graded MS65 Brown. Beautiful lustrous light steel brown with peeps of faded mint red in protected areas, mostly on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and the only marks are a few small nicks well hidden in the hair on top of the inner hair bun. Otherwise this cent is choice. LDS, die state c, with a cud break under the 48 extending up to the dentil roots below the 4, and the cud break is clear. The repunching on the 18 is clear as well. Our grade is MS60+, CC#5 overall but second finest of the rare terminal die state in the Grellman census. This cent has the eye appeal of a higher grade. The attribution and Iskra Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 406544.65/81014428 Ex Douglas F. Bird 3/1996-R.
