LOT 1253 1848 N-38 R4- PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty light to medium chocolate brown and steel with hints of underlying very faded mint color in a couple of the protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal is consistent with a slightly higher grade. The only marks are a thin nick over star 2 and tiny planchet chips that cover the outer edge of the rim at the top of the reverse, as struck. Sharply struck EDS, die state a. The fine die lines on the reverse are clear, including the one through the D in UNITED. Our grade is MS60, CC#3 in the Grellman census with the next finest grading only AU50. The attribution and Iskra Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. (The back of the holder is scuffed.) 406538.63/81014426

LOT 1254 1848 N-38 R4- VF30. Glossy light reddish brown. Smooth and attractive, just lightly worn. Just trivial marks including a very fine vertical nick just left of the earlobe and a small tick on the rim over star 3. LDS, die state c, with a strong line connecting two leaves below the F in OF. CC#4 of those in die state c in the Grellman census.

CONDITION CENSUS N-39 RARITY

LOT 1255 1848 N-39 R5+ EF40+. Glossy light reddish brown with frosty luster in the fields and protected areas. Looks choice but a glass reveals light contact marks on the cheek including a few microscopic hairlines. MDS. The earliest die lines over UNIT are gone. An attractive cent with the eye appeal of a higher grade. Tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census.
