TNA HOF Collection Pt 1
LOT 1238 1848 N-28 R1 AU58+. A sharp, attractive cent that looks mint state but a glass reveals a hint of rub on the very highest points of the devices. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with traces of mint red on both sides. A small, dull tick on the throat close to the jawline is the only notable mark. MDS, die state b. The die line connecting the S & O is dull but still visible. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS62 Brown (PCGS label #1883.62/16658877 included).

LOT 1240 1848 N-29 R3- EF45+. Glossy medium brown with frost in the fields and protected areas. Lightly worn with trivial marks, very close to AU50. A very tiny vertical nick left of star 8 is the only notable defect, and it is barely visible. MDS, die state b, with a small but clearly defined rim cud over star 8. Removed from an NGC holder graded MS60 Brown (NGC label #3467765-001 included).

LOT 1239 1848 N-29 R3- AU55. Very close to mint state but there are two nicks on the cheek over the front edge of the throat and one more hidden on the leaf under the E in STATES. Frosty steel brown with darker steel on the obverse highpoints. Traces of mellowed mint red show on the reverse. EDS, die state a, before the tiny rim cud formed over star 8. The diagonal die lines at ONE CENT are sharp and strong.

RARE LATE STATE N-29
LOT 1241 1848 N-29 R3- VF20. Sharpness AU50 with many fine pinscratches on the portrait with slightly stronger scratches in the fields above and to the left of the head. The scratches above and before the head broke through the patina and exposed some raw copper. The only other notable defect is a small patch of very fine greenish verdigris below the N in CENT. Glossy medium brown and chocolate with frosty mint luster in protected areas. Very rare LDS, die state d, with a strong rim cud break extending from below the end of the ribbon to over UN in UNITED. CC#6 of 12 known in this die state.
