TNA HOF Collection Pt 1

LOT 1234 1848 N-27 R2 EF40. Five points sharper but there are two small carbon spots at RICA. Otherwise smooth with trivial contact marks. Glossy light brown and olive with frosty tan in protected areas. EDS, die state a, with no die cracks on the reverse. The fields are covered with fine die polishing lines and are slightly reflective.

LOT 1233 1848 N-26 R5 VF30. Ten points sharper but recolored glossy light olive brown. Smooth and nicely struck with full radial lines in all the stars. There are some light contact marks on the cheek and neck. MDS, die state b. The earlier die lines connecting ONE and CENT are gone. A nice example of this tough variety in spite of the defects, tied for CC#9 in the Grellman census.

SECOND FINEST N-27

LOT 1235 1848 N-27 R2 NGC graded MS65 Brown. Lustrous light brown and steel with 20-25% of the original mint red showing on both sides. Pieces with this much original mint red routinely receive an “RB” designation. Deserves a regrade. The only notable marks are some microscopic specks of darker toning, the only notable one being on the rim over the left edge of star 7. Nicely struck M-LDS, die state f, with numerous die cracks on the reverse. A superior red & brown cent with great eye appeal. Our grade is MS63+, CC#2 for the variety but finest of the later die state in the Grellman census. 4699585-001
