LOT 1183 1847 N-36 R5+ VF25. Sharpness EF45 but lightly whizzed and burnished, now retoned glossy reddish brown on the obverse, lighter golden tan with reddish brown in some protected areas on the reverse. The burnishing is limited to the face and neck. Just a few trivial marks including a tiny pinprick just right of the inner curl. An imperfect cent but sharp with good potential if properly retoned. Tied for CC#10 of the variety in the Grellman census.
LOT 1184 1847 N-37 R2 AU50. Very close to mint state but lightly cleaned, now retoned glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter brown on the devices. Sharply struck with just a few microscopic marks including a couple tiny planchet chips under star 7 and a tick under star 13. Sharply struck EDS with fine vertical die polishing lines in the fields on the obverse. Comes with a nice provenance plus attribution notes from Ted Naftzger.

LOT 1185 1847 N-37 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty light olive and medium steel brown with tiny peeps of very faded mint color on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. The only marks are a thin diagonal nick under the left side of star 7 and a spot of reddish brown toning (not carbon) at the dentil tips left of star 6. Sharply struck MDS. Our grade is MS60+, CC#3 in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 37355.63/39393447

LOT 1186 1847 N-38/16 R1 EF45. Slightly sharper but there are faint hairlines on the obverse. Frosty medium brown with a small splash of reddish brown toning at the U in UNITED. Otherwise void of notable marks. E-MDS, die state b, with dull waves at D, ST, and AT but the dies are unclashed (this is Newcomb’s #38).
