LOT 1148 1847 N-11 R4- EF45. Glossy light olive with frost in the protected areas. Lightly worn with trivial marks including two specks of reddish brown toning in the field off the chin. E-MDS, die state a. The die lines on the reverse are sharp and there are very light flowlines in the fields.

RARE LATE STATE N-11

LOT 1149 1847 N-11 R4- F15. Ten points sharper with nice eye appeal, but a glass reveals extremely fine porosity in the fields and protected areas. In addition there are a few light scratches under ONE and CENT. No verdigris and the defects are not at all distracting. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Rare LDS, die state c, with two strong rim cud breaks on the obverse: one at star 9 and another at star 11. Tied for CC#6 of the die state in the Grellman census.

RARE EARLY STATE N-12

LOT 1150 1847 N-12 R3+ Repunched 8 AU50. Glossy medium brown and chocolate. Lightly worn on the highpoints and the only mark is a small splash of slightly darker brown toning over star 3. Rare EDS, die state a, with unbroken dies and reflective fields on both sides. The tip of the coronet and the opposing leaves at the bottom of the reverse are softly struck, as usual for this die state. The repunching inside the top of the 8 is sharp.
