Ex Tom Keenan-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 1107 1846 N-9 R2 MS60+. Lustrous olive and steel brown with mint red showing on about 15% of the obverse. Attractive and choice if not for a few contact marks including a nick over the nostril and a couple more in the field right of the main curl. The reverse is flawless. MDS, die state b. The arc line at ICA is now visible only between the C & A.

LOT 1106 1846 N-8 R1 PCGS graded MS62 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty light to medium steel brown. Satiny and flawless except for a puff of reddish brown toning at the top of the N in ONE. MDS, die state a late or b early. The die lines at the throat and the N in ONE are dull and weak but many are still visible. Our grade is AU58. The attribution and Iskra Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.

Ex 2002 EAC Sale, McCawley & Grellman Auctions 4/20/2002:584 Fred Iskra Collection, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 9/4/2016:75-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection (last lot ticket included)

LOT 1108 1846 N-10 R5- MS60. Frosty mint red fading to olive and steel brown with 15% of the red remaining on the obverse, 25% on the reverse. The only marks are specks of darker toning on the bottom of the wreath. This cent would rate a significantly higher grade if the strike was better. The profile, stars, shoulder, and many of the leaves in the wreath are softly impressed leaving the highpoints slightly rough with the texture of the unstruck planchet. MDS, die state a, before any rim cud breaks on the obverse. An attractive example in spite of the imperfect strike, CC#3 for the variety in the Grellman census. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS63RB (PCGS label # 1866.63/11989812 included).
