TNA HOF Collection Pt 1
FINEST 1846 N-5 DIE STATE
LOT 1101 1846 N-5 R2 Repunched 1 AU50. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with slightly lighter brown toning at the top of the reverse. Mint frost covers the protected areas and this cent has very nice eye appeal. Just a touch of rub on the highpoints from mint state, but there are microscopic hairlines on the cheek and neck. Very rare LDS, die state g, with strong rim cuds at S,TATE and a series of narrow rim cuds on the right side of the obverse. Finest of the die state by a small margin in the Grellman census.

EXTREMELY RARE TERMINAL STATE N-5
LOT 1102 1846 N-5 R2 Repunched 1 VF35+. Glossy medium brown and light olive with slightly darker chocolate brown toning on the lower part of the reverse. Mint frost shows in protected areas on both sides. No notable marks. A tiny swipe of lighter tan toning on the end of the wreath ribbon can help identify this cent. Nice for the grade, close to EF40. Extremely rare TDS, die state i, with clearly defined rim cuds over STATES plus narrow rim cuds from star 10 down to star 13. The repunching on the date is weak but still visible, clearest under the base of the 1. CC#2 of only 6 known in the terminal state in the Grellman census. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU58BN (NGC label #308005-012 included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance).
