TNA HOF Collection Pt 1

CONDITION CENSUS 1845 N-13

LOT 1088 1845 N-13 R2+ MS63. Very attractive lustrous light olive and golden brown. Satiny and choice with great eye appeal. A tiny rim nick over star 8 and another at star 4 are the only notable marks, and they are trivial. Sharply struck EDS, die state a, with crisp dentils around the reverse and fine die lines over ITED. A very impressive cent. Tied for CC#2 honors in the Grellman census. Ex M. H. Bolender 2/1/1947:661 (as Andrews #2)-R. E. “Ted” Naftzger, Jr. (via William C. Noyes)-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection (includes two Naftzger collection envelopes, one as A-2, another as N-13) EQUAL FINEST EARLY STATE 1845 N-15

LOT 1089 1845 N-15 R4 AU50. Glossy light olive brown and chocolate with a small puff of darker olive brown toning at the hair under the earlobe. The only other marks are a few dull microscopic ticks right of stars 3 & 4, and these are barely visible under strong magnification. Rare very early die state (VEDS), die state a, with strong horizontal die lines over star 13 plus additional unlisted fine die lines elsewhere on the obverse. A neat die state. Tied for CC#8 honors overall but equal to the finest known of the EDS in the Grellman census.
