TNA HOF Collection Pt 1
LOT 1076 1845 N-4 R1 Repunched 5 MS62. Frosty light steel brown with underlying very faded mint color in protected areas and slightly darker steel brown on the highpoints. Essentially flawless, void of notable marks. The best identifying marks are a spot of slightly darker toning under star 2 and a faint scratch in the field below the chin. MDS, die state c, with fine die cracks on the reverse. The fields are hard and very slightly reflective thanks to a fresh die polishing that left microscopic die lines in the fields, clearest before the neck. The repunching at the top of the 5 is clear.

LOT 1077 1845 N-5 R1 MS60. Glossy light olive and steel. Sharp with crisp dentils around both sides and full hair details over the ear. A small planchet chip on the foot of the 4 is the only notable mark. EDS, die state a, with hard, slightly reflective fields on both sides.
LOT 1078 1845 N-6 R2 AU50+. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with frost in protected areas. Just a few trivial marks including a couple tiny ticks at the 4 and a short scratch under star 5. Sharply struck on the obverse with full radials in all the stars and a fully struck coronet tip. LDS, die state d. The earlier die clashmarks on the obverse have been lapped off the die.

THE STARR-NAFTZGER 1845 N-7
LOT 1079 1845 N-7 R5- Blundered 84, PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Attractive glossy light to medium brown with traces of mint red on the obverse and 15% of the original red showing on the reverse. This cent is sharp and it has great eye appeal with virtually flawless surfaces. Just a light touch of friction on the highest points of the devices from mint state. EDS, die state a, with an uncracked reverse. The undertype at the 8 & 4 is sharp. Called AU55 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #31208. Our grade is AU55, tied for CC#3 honors in the Grellman census behind a pair of marginally finer examples. Comes with a great provenance. The attribution and Naftzger Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 397758.64/18900079 Ex Howard R. Newcomb, J. C. Morgenthau & Co., 5/16/1945:742-Floyd T. Starr, Stack’s 6/13/1984:462-R.
