TNA HOF Collection Pt 1
EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
FINEST 1845 N-2
LOT 1073 1845 N-2 R1 MS63+. Lustrous olive and steel with mint red covering at least 20% of both sides. Satiny and choice, essentially flawless with superior eye appeal. A subtle spot of slightly darker toning at the dentil tips above star 5 can help identify this cent. Nicely struck E-MDS, die state a late. The fine die lines at the second A in AMERICA and the shallow lump above the N in ONE are weak but visible. Finest of the variety by a small margin in the Grellman census.

LOT 1074 1845 N-3 R4 EF45. Glossy light to medium brown and light olive blending to darker olive brown in protected areas. Sharp and quite attractive with very little wear on the devices. A few dull contact marks in the field left of star 11 are visible under magnification; otherwise mark free. Sharply struck EDS, die state a, with an uncracked reverse and all the fine die lines clear. Borcherdt Collection CONDITION CENSUS 1845 N-4
LOT 1075 1845 N-4 R1 Repunched 5 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Lustrous bright mint red fading to light steel brown with more than a third of the original mint color remaining. Sharply struck and very attractive with just a few microscopic marks. A tiny speck of darker toning at the dentils under star 1 and a swipe of darker brown toning over NIT can help identify this cent. EDS, die state a, before any die cracks on the reverse. The repunching on the top of the 5 is clear. A variety that is relatively common in mint state but this is a particularly nice one. Our grade is MS63+, tied for CC#3 in the Grellman census, and it comes with a nice provenance. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
