SUPERB 1845 N-8

LOT 1080 1845 N-8 R1 MS64. Lustrous light olive and steel with mellowed mint color covering 10% of both sides. Satiny and flawless. A microscopic tick on the upright of the 4 is the best identifying mark, and you need a good glass to find it. E-MDS, die state b early. The line inside the triangle of the 4 is weak but visible. An impressive cent, tied for CC#3 in the Grellman census.

LOT 1081 1845 N-9 R2 AU50. Frosty tan and light brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Sharp with light friction on the highpoints and trivial marks including a very light scratch at IT in UNITED to above the C in CENT. EDS, die state a, with a light die crack at MER.

EQUAL SECOND FINEST 1845 N-9

LOT 1082 1845 N-9 R2 MS64. Very attractive lustrous mint red and light olive brown with 10% of the obverse and a third of the reverse showing mint color. Sharply struck with superb eye appeal. A couple tiny ticks well hidden in the hair right of the ear lobe are the best identifying marks, and they are invisible without the aid of a good glass. MDS, die state b, with die cracks on the reverse but no cud break. A beautiful cent, tied for second finest known of the variety in the Grellman census.
