EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS HALF CENTS
LOT 5
1795 C-9 R-2 High Relief Head VG8. Glossy medium brown and light steel with several thin planchet fissures from the left rim through the portrait and a notable void on the rim over ER in LIBERTY. The only other notable marks are a cluster of parallel pin scratches on the neck. Smooth surfaces, full date and legends.
LOT 1
1793 C-2 R-3 NGC AG3. Deep chocolate and olive browns with a bit of a tapering worn all around the obverse rims. The lower part of the date and upper parts of some legends are more worn as a result, but other than HALF all can be made out easily. There are a couple dull hairline scratches in front of the profile. Pleasing smooth, hard surfaces. Our grade is AG3 . 2707218-001
LOT 6
1795 C-1 R-2 Lettered Edge PCGS VF Details (Environmental Damage). VF sharpness but there are areas of scattered microporoisty and very fine granularity on the surfaces with a few marks on the obverse. The most notable include a nick on the cap, one before the chin, one under 7, and a rim bruise below 9. Medium brown, olive, and deeper steel browns. Bold date and legends. Our grade is VG10. 35067.97/36659790
LOT 2
1793 C-3b R-3 Lettered Edge Low Head NGC VG Details (Scratched). Fine sharpness but there are several old hairline scratches across the portrait and in the lower right obverse field. There are also minor nicks on F in HALF and over the leaves between OF and AMERICA. Chocolate and olive browns. Bold date and LIBERTY, faint in places but fully readable reverse legends. NGC misattributed this as Plain Edge, but the edge lettering is strong and easily identifiable. Our grade is VG10. 6972596-006
LOT 7
1795 C-1 R-2 Lettered Edge G5. Cleaned and now toned olive and bluish steel with area of micro-roughness. There is a pin scratch under F in HALF, and another mark to the right of that inside the wreath. A bit weaker at AL in HALF, but otherwise fully readable legends and date with complete edge lettering.
LOT 3
1794 C-4a R-3 Small Edge Letters NGC Fine Details (Corrosion). Fine sharpness but corroded with a granular steel patina and deeper brown on some of the high points. Free of notable marks, the legends and date are bold and complete. Our grade is G5. 2707218-002
LOT 8
1795 C-4 R-3 Punctuated Date VG10. Attractive light brown with light steel on the high points. There are some natural striations on the lower obverse and a tiny flaw over the last A in AMERICA, as struck. Weaker on the central reverse, otherwise full date and legends.
LOT 4
1794 C-4a R-3 Small Edge Letters G4. Dark brown with lighter chocolate on some high points and microscopic roughess on the surfaces. Smoother on the high points. There are strong die clash marks around the cap and obverse swelling behind the lower hair resulting in a weaker STA in STATES. Otherwise fully readable date and legends.
