1800/179 S-196 R1 Overdate 180 over 179 G6 A few points sharper but slightly rough and there are a couple minor rim bruises. Dark olive and grayish steel. The date is strong, the overdate is bold, and the legends are clear. EDS, Breen state I, before any clashmarks or cracks. $95

1800 S-197 R1 VF25+ Sharpness near EF40 but recolored frosty steel brown and chocolate with darker steel brown on the highpoints and reddish tan from the cleaning visible in protected areas on the reverse. No roughness or verdigris, but there are some contact marks. The notable marks are a rim nick left of the lower end of the hair ribbon, another just left of the date, a nick at the top of the ear, and another high on the shoulder. In addition there is a shallow low spot right of the ear lobe and another on the lower part of the neck, as struck. MDS, Breen state III, with significant lumps at IBE, smaller ones at the lower end of the hair ribbon, and scattered lumps hidden in the hair. The lumps through the first 0 in the date are strong (the so-called “Q” Variety). Graded EF45 net VF30 in the Noyes census, his photo #24054. $2,850
