LOT 216 1798 S-175 R3 Small 8, Style II Hair ANACS graded VF30 Details, Corroded, Scratched . Partly glossy dark olive brown and steel. Covered with very fine roughness, strongest on the reverse. Fine verdigris shows in protected areas on the reverse. The only significant mark is a dull but rather strong scratch from the first S in STATES to the left top of the N in ONE. LDS, Breen state VI, with die cracks on the reverse. Our grade is VF25 sharpness net F12. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341085

LOT 213 1798 S-154 R4+ Large 8, Style I Hair VG7 . Slightly sharper and attractive for the grade, but there is some minor roughness left of the hair ribbon and a nick under the E in AMERICA. Otherwise just minor contact marks. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with some darker olive brown and steel in protected areas. The date is bold and the legends are strong except for weakness at ED due to swelling associated with the variety. EDS, Breen state I late.

LOT 214 1798 S-167 R1 Large 8, Style II Hair ANACS EF40 Details, Corroded . Frosty grayish steel. Sharp but covered with very fine porosity mixed with granularity, and there is a speck of raised verdigris in the field before the neck. Otherwise void of defects. MDS, Breen state III, with die cracks on the obverse. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF20. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341086

LOT 217 1798 S-176 R4 Small 8, Style II Hair G6+ . Slightly sharper with microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas while the devices are smooth. There are some fine hairline scratches on the portrait but overall the surfaces and eye appeal of this cent are nice for the grade. The date is strong and the legends are clear. MDS with a vertical die crack up from the bust.

LOT 218 1798 S-177 R4+ Small 8, Style II Hair VG8 . Sharpness F15 with scattered light porosity and roughness on both sides. No verdigris and the notable marks are a shallow pit on the shoulder and a fine vertical scratch right of the ear. Partly glossy medium brown and darker chocolate. The date is bold and the legends are strong. Later die state with a vertical crack in the field before the portrait.

LOT 215 1798 S-174 R2 Small 8, Style II Hair G5 . Slightly sharper with some nicks on the obverse and a few patches of fine roughness on the reverse, the largest of these under ITE. Just minor contact marks consistent with the grade. Mostly glossy olive brown with lighter brown on the devices. The bottom of the date is weak but the rest is clear and the legends are complete.
