LOT 207 1797 S-137 R2 G6 . A couple points sharper but covered with microscopic granularity. No verdigris and the only notable mark is a tiny rim nick at the R in AMERICA. Slightly glossy medium brown with chocolate in the fields and protected areas. MDS with swelling at RICA and minor swelling at UNI.

DOUBLE STRUCK OVER REVERSE BROCKAGE

LOT 208 1797 S-138 R1 G6 . Sharpness F12 but covered with fine to moderate granularity. There are microscopic traces of verdigris in protected areas and just a few contact marks including a nick on the bust and a rim nick at the D in UNITED. Dark steel brown and olive with tan in protected areas. This cent was struck twice. The first impression was an off-center reverse brockage strike and the second was normal and centered on the planchet. Bold evidence of the initial strike is visible on both sides. An incuse ATE shows at the 97 and a normal OF AMERICA shows above the same letters from the second strike. Much more of the initial strike is visible on both sides. A dramatic mint error; just too bad the surfaces are rough.

LOT 209 1797 S-143 R5 Stemless Wreath AG3 . Significantly sharper, perhaps F12 and even better in the hair details, but covered with porosity and slightly bent. No verdigris but there is a dig in the hair left of the ear lobe. The date and legends are affected by the roughness but everything except OF is readable. Dark chocolate brown and steel. The Stemless Wreath feature is obvious.
