S-21 WITH BLUNDERED EDGE
LOT 166 1794 S-21 R3 Basal State-1 . Corroded and miserable in nearly every respect, but there is enough detail remaining, particularly on the reverse, to get the attribution. No verdigris or contact marks, but there are numerous small pits in the hair. Chocolate brown. What makes this cent interesting is the blundered edge that reads ONE DHUNDRED FOR AA DDOOLLAR. Dan Trollan, the blundered edge guru, figured this out for us!
Ex Red Henry-Daniel W. Trollan (includes the Trollan collection envelope)
LOT 167 1794 S-22 R1 ANACS graded F15 . Steel brown and chocolate with a small swipe of darker olive brown toning in the field below the chin. Microscopic roughness shows in the fields and protected areas but there is no verdigris. The only marks are a shallow planchet chip on the bust and a couple more at the F in OF. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. LDS, Breen state VIII, with die cracks on the obverse and swelling on the reverse. Our grade is consistent with the ANACS grade . The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341068
LOT 169 1794 S-24 R1 VG8 . Mostly glossy olive brown and chocolate with lighter brown toning on the devices. A few points sharper but there is light corrosion and verdigris in the hair and in the field behind the head. Otherwise smooth. The notable contact marks are a rim dent before the neck and another at IC in AMERICA. The date is clear. Later die state with obvious swelling inside the wreath.
