LARGE CENTS

LOT 162 1793 S-10 R4 Wreath Cent ANACS graded VG8 . Glossy olive brown with lighter chocolate brown on the devices. A glass reveals microscopic roughness under the glossy toning but the eye appeal of this cent is very nice for the grade. The only notable mark is a shallow planchet chip near the rim before the nose (as struck). The date and legends are clear except for weakness in the center of the reverse due to minor swelling in that area. MDS. Our grade is consistent with the ANACS grade. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341069

LOT 161 1793 S-6 R3 Wreath Cent ANACS graded F15 Details, Struck on Defective Blank . Slightly glossy light to medium chocolate brown. There is microscopic granularity in protected areas and a few minor rim bruises on both sides, but overall the surfaces are decent. The planchet defect on the obverse does catch your eye, particularly the void at the bust tip. There is a smaller void at the rim right of the nose plus and a thin lamination down through the chin. The reverse is quite nice, nearly VF20 with trivial marks and no planchet flaws. EDS, Breen state I showing a very subtle wave in the field left of the portrait. Our grade is F15 sharpness net VG8. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341067

ATTRACTIVE LETTERED EDGE WREATH CENT

LOT 163 1793 S-11b R4 Wreath Cent with Lettered Edge F15 . Variety with two leaves following DOLLAR. Five points sharper but there are a couple minor rim bruises on both sides and a dull, light scratch in the field behind the head. This cent looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals fine granularity in the fields under very attractive glossy chocolate brown toning. A few tiny planchet voids at OF-A are the only other flaws (as struck). The date and legends are strong and the edge lettering is bold. E-MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks along the profile. A nice example of this Lettered Edge Wreath Cent.
