LOT 639 1787 Fugio Cent Newman 20-R R6 F15 . A STATES UNITED variety. Ten points sharper but there is fine roughness in the fields and protected areas. Slightly glossy light to medium brown with traces of reddish brown scale in a few protected areas. The highpoints are smooth and the eye appeal of this piece is nice in spite of the imperfect surfaces. Just trivial contact marks, none notable. An incipient planchet clip at K-7.5 weakens the M and B, but they are still readable. EDS, Newman state A, before any die clashmarks. A decent example of this rare variety. Weight 131.4 grains.

LOT 636 1787 Fugio Cent Newman 16-N R5 F12 . A STATES UNITED variety. Rather glossy light to medium brown blending to chocolate brown in the protected areas. Microscopic roughness covers the upper half of the obverse. No marks or verdigris and this piece has nice eye appeal for the grade. M-LDS, Newman die state c, with die cracks on the reverse. Weight 148.1 grains.
